The Cochamo Valley entrance is 35 km east of Puerto Montt, turning off Ruta 7 onto a gravel road that climbs into temperate rainforest. The drive to the valley trailhead is about 15 km on loose stones and potholes. Park at the end of the road and hike into the granite spires and hanging glaciers. A sedan can reach the turnoff, but the final stretch is easier in a crossover with ground clearance. A Toyota Corolla Cross or Nissan X-Trail will handle the access road without stress.
